Sky

Hello everyone,

My name is Sky and I am a beautiful long-haired Collie X lady. Sadly, my lovely mum died and no one was able to commit to keeping me. However, one of our lovely volunteers knew me through her professional capacity as a dog walker, so was able to get me to safety. My friends at SEDR have promised that they will find me the 5* home that my mum would have wanted for me. 

I am nearly 11 years old but do not let that fool you: I am still a busy girl who is used to walking for two hours a day! Therefore, I will need a family who can commit to keeping me busy, fit and healthy. I am spayed, microchipped and up to date with vaccinations and have no health issues.

I have not lived with a dog previously and would prefer to continue living as the only lady in the home. Frankly, I prefer not to share my space and enjoy stretching my paws out in peace! However, I have been very good with other dogs on pack walks over the last year and will happily walk past other non-reactive dogs, showing no interest in them. If I dog is a bit gobby towards me, I may have a bark back but only if I can be bothered!

I walk nicely on a lead but have largely walked off-lead when my lovely friend, Jemma, has taken me out with her dogs. However, I will chase cats and birds if I spot them, so you will need to be vigilant and ready to pop me back on lead if I spot these fuzzies!! 

I have a confession: I am also a bit of a food thief! I will think nothing of spotting a picnic and running off with some bloke's cheese and pickle sarnie. Therefore, any potential family will need to be good at keeping an eye out for unattended food on the horizons as well!

I am a friendly girl and am generally happy to meet people when out and about. However, I can be a little reserved about meeting men initially but this is because I have had little experience with them. Once I know that they are friendly and trustworthy though, I am happy to engage with them too. When I like you, not only do I make a 'woooooo' noise but I will also smile at you! Some people think that I'm 'showing my teeth' but I am actually just trying to show them how much I like them!

In my home, I would normally meet Jemma at the porch way. I was always so excited to see her and would jump up a bit because I could not contain myself! However, with instruction, I will listen and calm down. 

I have never lived with children and at my advanced age, my friends at SEDR feel that it is best for me to live in an adult-only home with no pressures. Any visiting children will need to be aged 12+ years.

As mentioned earlier, I do have a tendency to chase cats and birds so I cannot live in a home with any other animals. 

I have always been a very clean girl in my home and when staying at kennels. I am also a good traveller, having ridden in Jemma's van several times a week for the last year with no issues. 

I have never shown any signs of seperation anxiety previously, having slept soundly throughout the night. However, my mum was at home with me for most of the day before she died, so I would prefer to live with a family who will not leave me alone very often. 

My friends at SEDR are not aware of any resource guarding issues. In fact, I will happily eat biscuits near my friends Tuna and Snoopy (Jemma's two English Bull Terriers). 

I have a glorious coat but this needs daily brushing. Fortunately, I love being brushed so it is something that my family and I can both enjoy.
