Please meet Heidi. Heidi is a lurcher, approximately 5-6 years old. Heidi is currently in foster, here’s what her foster mum has to say:
‘Heidi had literally only been at the rescue a few hours before we fostered her. She was underweight and it took a groomer over 2 hours to get the matts out of her. The shy, timid dog she was then has now completely disappeared and with love and affection (and food) Heidi has blossomed!
She gets on great with our 4 dogs and she is fine with our 2 cats. She is good around children and she is very good on a lead. She is completely house trained and her recall off lead on a walk is good (all you need is treats and she wont go far from your side – unless she sees a rabbit). She would not be trusted around ducks, chickens, etc. She doesn’t mind being washed and groomed and as long as she has a comfy bed she is happy. She LOVES her food and apart from bones she is not protective of her food.
Heidi is just a great dog and if we had less dogs we would keep her, but it’s time for her to find her perfect forever home, where she will continue to be shown what love and attention is.
From seeing her change we feel her ideal home would be with another largeish dog (she loves playing with our lurcher) where she would be walked daily and ideally where someone is at home quite a bit. Her only negative is that out on a walk she can be a bit OTT with other dogs – we just put her on a lead when there are other dogs around. She just hasn’t been properly socialised and so doesn’t know how to greet dogs. The rescue will provide information on the training that will help improve this further.
I really hope there is the right home out there for her, as whoever gets her will be getting a great dog who just wants to be loved. We will miss her!’
Heidi has been neutered, vaccinated, wormed and deflead. A home check and £180 adoption fee will apply.
